Pietratorcia wine cellar Ischia

The cellars of Pietratorcia among the best Italian wine producers, were born in Forio, on the western side of the Island, thanks to the efforts of young enthusiasts who wanted to continue to enhance the traditions of old island families, Iacono, Regine and Verde. 

 








The old family cellars were renovated and equipped, the 7 acres of land were selected with vines and today, thanks to the assistance of the technicians of the prestigious Institute of San Michele, fine wines are prepared in small productions want to recover the great calling that wine ages in the public tearing of Ischia have created the soil on the slopes of Epomeo

from 01/04 to 14/06 and from 16/09 to 15/11 from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00
Friday, Saturday and Sunday open also in the night

The Torrione museum

The Torrione stands in the homonym street, was built at the expense of the university at the beginning of the XVI century, has served as a watch and defense tower. It was equipped with several guns, one of which remained there until 1787 used to shoot blanks in the days of major religious holidays.

At the end of the last century, the city donated it to the sculptor Giovanni Maltese (1852-1913) who adapted it as his home and studio. Today is home to the Museum dedicated to the sculptor.

There are works that the sculptor had with him at the time of death. The British painter's wife Fayrer Fanny Jane (1851 Cumberwell Forio 1926), gave the tower, the town of Forio before he died.

Forio d'Ischia San Francesco Beach

The beach of San Francesco is situated just a short walk from the port of Forio; easy to reach by car and public transport.

To the right is surrounded by the promontory of Punta Caruso, destination for rocks and tranquillity keens.

This beach is suitable for who likes the water sports, the tourist settlements in sea and maybe dinner in a typical island restaurant, under the sunset and moonlight.

How to reach the beach

The beach of San Francesco is situtaed in the municipality of Forio. It's reachable by bus and car, driving the main street of the island. 

To whoever prefers to move by bus, line 24, from Citara, stops just few minutes walk from the beach, while the lines 1 - 2 - CD - CS stop near the main street just 10 minutes away.
Not far away, you can leave your car at a secured parking

How to reach the beach

The beach of Chiaia is situated in the municipality of Forio, 300 m from the centre. It's easly reachable by bus and car, beacuse close the main street. The bus stoplines 1 – 2 – CD – CS – 24is adjoining the beach.

Ischia's latest involvement in the world of cycle racing comes in the form of a new event that will be staged for the first time this year. The Isola Verde (Green Island) one hundred kilometre cycling race will take place on a specially-designed road circuit of approximately 9km that will see competitors racing over just a touch more than 11 laps.

The course will wind its way across the island's hilliest sections and take in Castello AragoneseIschia PonteBaranoBuonopaneFontanaSerrara,PanzaCitaraForioLacco Ameno and Ischia Porto. The highest peak will be reached at Fontana where the riders will have climbed to a height of 460 metres above sea-level.

In 2013 Ischia was home to stage two of the giant Giro d'Italia race that covers the whole of Italy. The event was a huge success and the Isola Verde 100km aims to continue this wonderful tradition of cycling in Ischia.
