Sant'Angelo Ischia - Le Fumarole Beach

Just a short walk from S. Angelo and the thermal gardens Aphrodite Apollon, in a small section of Maronti, spew for centuries the breath of Tifeo from the depths of the ground. 

This is a most interesting phenomenon resulting from the volcanic activity of Ischia: the Fumarole. From the ground in this area a great thermal energy emanates and produces clouds of vapour in the external atmosphere and bubbles of gas in the ocean at about 100°C, observable with a submarine mask a few meters from the shore.

Since the times of Romans, the warm sand was used to cure body pains through sand-baths a pallet is dug with one's hands, one lies down and covers the whole body with sand, leaving only the head out. Over the course of the centuries these thermal waters had many uses, the heat being used even for culinary needs.

The Fumarole can be reached on foot from S. Angelo by following a road designated for pedestrians which links the town to Maronti beach in onlyn 10 minutes. If you desire, there is also a Taxi service available by sea which departs from S. Angel's port..

The beach of Cava Grado is situated in the municipality of Serrara Fontana. It's easly reachable across the street behind the square, where bus stop in Sant'Angelo, or across the path from the suburb of Succhivo.

Barano d'Ischia Maronti Beach Ischia

The Maroni beach is 3 km long. Its name is derived from Greek and was then translated into Latin with the term ‘quartior’ which means ‘traquil beach. 

A small part of this beach belongs to the municipality of Serrara Fontana and the main part belongs to the municipality of Barano. It is accessible either via a panoramic road which descends with sharp turns from Barano (the descends offers one of the most spectacular views of Ischia) or from the suggestive small port of S. Angelo via a cute… and irregularly scheduled sea taxi.

A newly constructed broad area allows for pedestrian access to the beach from S. Angelo. If the sun and sea are not enough for you, you can relax and boost up your body and soul with the sand-baths in the neighborhood of S. Angelo.

The Maronti beach is reachable by bus and car, walking the main and panoramic street from Testaccio, or via sea by taxi boats from S. Angelo.

To whoever prefers to travel by bus, the way is covered by the lineslinee 5 – 10 – 11 not far from the beach.

Lacco Ameno Ischia - San Montano Beach

The beach of San Montano is situated in an inlet where, according to the legend, one of the patrons of the island, Saint Restituta, arrived from Africa. 

Very particular is the fine sand, the shallow floors and the crystal water. It has parking, bathing establishment equipped for aquatic sports.

The bay is surrounded by the hydro thermal park of Negombo with several pools of marine and thermal waters.

The beach of San Montano is situated in the municipality of Lacco Ameno, in the homonym bay near the Negombo thermal park. It's easly to reach by bus and car. The bus stop is 900m from the beach (10 minutes on foot). The route is covered bylines 1 – 2 – CD – CS.

Casamicciola Marina Beach

The small beaches of Eliporto, marina and convento, along the panoramic main street of the island, form the seashore of Casamicciola. Fine sand and crystal sea, with parking and bathing establishment, are the main characteristics.

The beach of Marina is situated in the municipality of Casamicciola Terme, just a short walk from the centre. It's easly to reach by bus and car, because close to the main street. The bus stop lines 1 – 2 – CD – CS – 3 – 4 is adjoining the beach.
